Gmail Notes - Google Chrome Extension

UPDATE: Gmail Notes 2.0 has been released. Please post bug reports and feature requests there.

I just published, Gmail Notes, a Google Chrome (Beta Version must be installed) Extension that gives users the ability to associate Notes with conversations in Gmail. This post is intended to act as a page where users can file bug reports and I can answer questions. I'll update this post with more information as the extension evolves and gains more features.

IMPORTANT: Any bug reports need to include the URL of the inbox plus the minimum steps required to reproduce the bug

Thanks for this extension! I've been wanting this for a while. One problem: no apps support. Usually, I can modify the extensions myself to enable app support, but for some reason, I can't get it to work this time. my apps domain is nathanbrauer.com

This is Excellent After clearing Chrome's cache & cookies, I now see the Note link. Minor issue: I only see the Note when clicking from the inbox to a conversation. If I instead click from one conversation to the next ("Older" or "Newer"), the Note link is not visible. And like others, I also don't see it on apps. It's possible that the gmail for apps DOM is different, since you can turn off ads, for example.

I see 1.1 has a backup capability. Do you plan to add an online storage/sync system too? If not, could I talk to you about providing one?

Also, would you consider adding an option to set the background color for the note?

I would like to ad Google Apps support but do not have access to a Google Apps account for testing purposes. Any help with this would be appreciated.

The next feature I hope to add is a remote storage option. Privacy of data is a big concern and I am currently considering syncing to the users Google Docs account. Need to play around with the API first though.

Ronald - please contact me at john*at*jatmain.net to get login info for an app account.

About the "Newer" and "Older" navigation bugs. I can reproduce this but a trivial solution is not obvious to me at this point. While I am working on the synchronization feature I will try to address this.

Doesn't load for me - cleared cache and cookies etc but no sign of link

David, can you post the URL of your inbox? Most of the loading errors are the result of an unexpected query string parameter.

Cannot get note link to display - cleared cache an cookies. My notes are gone!

Here is URL to my inbox:

https://mail.google.com/mail/?dest=http://mail.google.com/mail/&shva=1#inbox

Notes are stored locally - where would that be? Trying to look for a specific note which I can't find since note link is not appearing.

@Randy - remove any query string parameters in the URL. In your case, the "?dest=http://mail.google.com/mail/&shva=1" should be removed. Your notes should then re-appear.

The next version of gmail notes is coming soon and will sync your notes to your Google Docs account. It should also be less picky about the URL too.
